What Makes The Giraffe PRO Cam Pro?

What makes a camera PRO?

Any photographer worth their salt will immediately tell you that a good camera won’t make someone a professional photographer. First of all, anyone with a set of hands and eyes can take a good photo. The trick is consistency. A pro will deliver no matter what. Clients respect that and that’s what keeps them having your phone on the speed dial.

A camera should never impede work. No matter what you’re shooting, the last thing you need is to have problems with my equipment. Real estate photography is a bit less dynamic than wedding or press work where you’re hunting for fleeting moments, but even there the camera should facilitate predictable and consistently good results. Giraffe360 imaging ecosystem and all of our cameras are made to do just that – deliver no matter what.

The same goes for optics and every other accessory. What’s the most important piece of equipment if you’re out shooting landscapes in a swamp? A pair of rubber boots, so you can get where you need to be without having your feet wet. That will contribute more to the image than a fancy medium format camera or an even sharper ultrawide lens. A professional will use whatever it takes to deliver the best image possible.

What specs should you care about?

Before delving into the ins and outs of the Giraffe360 PRO camera, let’s get the obvious out of the way – most camera specifications nowadays matter very little when it comes to taking great photos. Sure the newest sensor can suss out extra stops of dynamic range and thus give you extra headroom in post-production but it won’t make or break your process.

The boring truth is that in capable hands even a DSLR over the legal drinking age can deliver great results. Sure, it will be a pain to use due to unreliable autofocus and you wouldn’t want to go over 400 ISO but if the light is good, it’ll do the trick just fine. As long as the photographer is half decent, that is.

Since the original Giraffe Go cam, the basic imaging hardware has stayed the same. The heart of the PRO cam is a 1” 24Mpx EXMOR CMOS sensor made by Sony. The same sensor is usually used in professional camcorders. It has very good image quality for its size and the small size means there’s a wide depth of field. This is also aided by the 16mm FF-equivalent f/2.9 optics.

As you can see in the comparison graphic, everything has changed about the Giraffe PRO camera but the actual camera. It’s still the same trusty Sony module with ultra-wide optics. It also wouldn’t be incorrect to call the PRO camera an advanced LIDAR system with a built-in camera. After all, the LiDAR is what powers the brunt of the Giraffe360 platform and allows the delivery of the most valuable materials like standard-compliant floor plans and gaussian splat virtual videos.

Despite the camera module remaining unchanged, the image quality of Giraffe360 platform has been constantly improving. It relies on AI-powered computational photography to deliver market-ready images and our QA team checks every image so there are no bad surprises. Just capture, upload and after a couple of hours you’ll be able to share your capture project with the client.

In the end, despite all its AI smarts, it’s you who’s the pro with the PRO camera. It’s up to you to be diligent, ensure top notch communication and pamper your clients so they allow you to earn your living. You can trust the PRO camera to always be there to deliver consistently impactful materials so your clients win deals faster and stick with you.
